tibetan independence rally, seattle

tibetans cannot freely practice their religion or express their political beliefs.... it is illegal for tibetans to possess a photograph of the dalai lama or a tibetan flag in tibet ... peaceful protests against the illegal chinese occupation just brings on punishment by arrest, prison and torture... and the chinese gov't controls the tibetian population through birth control - whch result in forced abortions and sterilization of tibetan women... the idea of being unable to preserve one own's culture, language and spirituality is devastating. at the event, i talked to a lot of people who have family there, who grew up there, who can never go back.

this past friday was the 47th anniversary of the tibetan national uprising against the chinese occupation. seattle (and many other cities) partook in a rally and demonstrations.
